“The arrangements for dispatch of the bodies of non-local deceased persons are being made. Repair work on the Srinagar Ladakh National Highway is also being conducted by HIMANK,” an official spokesman said.

IGP Kashmir Farooq Ahmad said police, army, CRPF, ITBP men are carrying out the rescue operations. “Even some foreign tourists have joined the rescue operations. About 500 persons are missing,” he said.

They said in addition, satellite and radio communications have been established at important locations by the army. “The Army engineers are clearing the landslides and launching the essential bridges, so as to open both the highways to traffic,” the officials added.

  3. Whatever happened in Ladakh is really very sad.But it is nature's outburst and we cannot do anything.Right now I am worried about our Ladakhi friends and colleagues like Padma Tashi,Aashiqbhai and all the local people of Ladakh.June to mid September is the tourist season of Ladakh wherein lots of tourists Indian as well as Foreign visit Ladakh. Over last 5 years there has been a substantial increase in tourism in Ladakh. Which has in a way increased the stndard of living of the local people. They work hard during these 3-4 months so as to earn enough for them to survive for the next 8 months till the next tourist season comes again. But now at this point of time when the season is about to end and some of them have lost almost everything they have earned in their lifetime. The following 8 months are going to be a hard time.I feel we all should help them in whatever way we can and make them stand on their feet once again.

  4. Anila, u r Wright. Everyone should help Ladakhis at this movement, but I am not ready to trust Govt. & its Organisations as previous experience was very bad. So we Travellers of Isha Tours have to make combine efforts.
